The Boy and The Elephant

The Challenge

Make us different. It’s always the challenge. How to make a call to action for an animal charity different from the usual harrowing images of the harmed.  And how to position these marvellous beasts as lovable, not just vulnerable, as sharing our world not just taking our pity.

The Solution

We chose stop-motion to contrast with the usual harsh images of reality.  This gave us both more creative freedom and less client cost outlay.  And we conjured a story of human and elephant shared experience, of the two mammals sharing a common place in the world, in order to meet the goal of respect.  The boy gives the elephant a telescope and they both marvel at the world. This admirable charity has taken away a piece to pull at the heart strings of children of all ages, especially ones with bank accounts.
